Sue Eastham

Very impressed with all aspects of Hydro treatment for Rubi!
Therapists - Tracey, Shona and Ruth have all been exceptional in their treatments and genuine love for dogs.
Rubi on 3rd treatment and enjoys her visits here.
Thank you!

Lisa Ryan

Excellent service, Beau has not limped or had problems with her leg since we have been coming here, all staff are brilliant :)

Maggie Brady

Our beautiful 3 legged Doberman has been for 2 sessions of laser and hydrotherapy and she's loving it. Lola lost her front leg 5 years ago and managed fantastically without it up until last year when her remaining leg started to show the strain now she has limited mobility and at the age of 9 is struggling to do very much walking at all. I contacted Steve at Canine Health & Hydro a couple of weeks ago and after his speedy response Lola has already had an assessment, taster session in the pool and is now looking forward to her third lovely laser treatment and dip in the pool chasing a pink donut we're all feeling hopeful for another summer with our lovely lass Lola barking at the passers by from our front garden thanks to Steve and the wonderful friendly team x

Paul Christodoulou

Gabriel has now been attending Canine Health and Hydro for over a year now. In that time his Hip Dysplasia has significantly improved and is now more or less cleared. He loves the Hydrotherapy and the staff, to such an end that even though his 2 x 10 sessions have sorted his problem, we continue to take him there every other week, as it is more than clear that he benefits every single time. We see it when he runs and plays outside. Now he also goes in the treadmill every other visit to fine tune his gate. Each time is followed by a good shower and a dry. I cannot recommend Canine Health and Hydro enough. A superb organisation with the care and health of dogs their first priority.

Anthony and Lisa Hart

We are really pleased with the progress that Monty has made since starting Hydro. Every member of staff are friendly and approachable. Ruth has been fantastic with Monty and is always ready to answer any questions we have. Monty thoroughly enjoys his sessions with Ruth and she is always willing to adapt the session to Monty's needs.
We cannot recommend Ruth and the rest of Steve's team highly enough.
Thank you!

Olwyn Spedding

Bracken has arthritis in his left leg. He has been coming to the Hydro weekly for 4 months. He is doing really well and has put 3" of muscle on his left leg. He loves Ruth to bits and always likes to please her. He looks forward to his weekly swims.

Jane

My young dog called Bobby developed Hip Dysplasia when he was 6 months old, I took him to Canine Health and Hydro for a course of hydrotherapy the team were fabulous with him and he really likes them all especially Helen. It helped him a lot to cope and improved his right hip enormously. Two weeks ago he had a hip replacement on his left side the team were very kind and supportive and Helen even rang me to check he was OK a very personal and caring touch. We have now gone back for a course of laser and will be doing some more hydrotherapy in the new year, thank to you all xx

David Ingham

We had the initial taster session with Ruth and as a result booked a plan of 10 sessions to improve Holly's mobility and well being.
She is not a fan of water but has reacted to the sessions remarkably well increasing her muscle mass and fitness.
Overall, delighted with the results which have resulted in increased mobility and flexibility.
All the therapists are excellent and Holly clearly enjoys the sessions.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the centre.

Sue Thompson

My 10 year old dog Sampson was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and arthritis in his hind legs.
He has lost a large amount of muscle and so it was recommended by the vet to do hydrotherapy. Canine Health and Hydro were recommended and Sampson had his first session and initial assessment. The moment we arrived we felt at ease and felt welcomed by the staff.
Ruth was the staff member who took the session and she was extremely warm, professional and experienced. She explained the process in detail and immediately I felt confident that Sampson was getting the best treatment.

Susan Pateman

Lottie has arthritis in her elbows. After only one session of laser and under water treadmill. There was a great improvement in her movement after 4 sessions. She has reverted to being a puppy and has to be prevented from doing too much exercise. Ruth and Helen are lovely girls and she enjoys coming.
Thanks so much for giving us our real Lottie back.

Christine Phillipson

Alfie has been coming to hydro for 2 years now. He first came with hip dysplasia in both hips. He is now pain free and has good muscles in both back legs. He doesn't need to take any medication from the vets. Recently Tracey has been taking Alfie for his hydrotherapy session. Alfie loves coming and Tracey works him hard to maintain his fitness, she also makes the session fun for him. We are so grateful for the care Alfie has received over the last two years.
Steve, the owner, has been very helpful to us with very useful pointers and tips for Alfies home life, he helped turn a poorly dog into a machine.

Mr I Osbaldeston

I cannot praise Canine Health and Hydro enough for the care and attention given to Oscar who is 15 1/2 years old and suffers from osteoarthritis. After his session in the pol and a session of Laser treatment he is like a new dog.

David Rushton

Bert started his hydro as a result of a medial cruciate ligament tear. The therapy has been wonderful in restoring strength to his leg. He absolutely loves the exercise and the attention he gets from Tracey and Ruth. They are knowledgeable and provide excellent routines. Although Bert virtually doesn't need hydro now it is great for maintenance and he would definitely object if we stopped!
I would highly recommend Canine Health and Hydro! Thank you!

Helena Washington My dogs have both come to Canine Health and Hydro for Laser and Hydrotherapy. It is fantastic here and they both have benefited hugely. My 8 year old Labrador becomes like a puppy again when she has her Laser therapy. She has worked with all the therapists - Ruth, Lianne, Tracey, Shona and Helen - they have all been great. Thank you

Derek russell Helen and the team have worked wonders with my dog, Denton. 2 months ago he appeared to be in relapse after from his spinal operation which had resolved his back end paralysis. He however suddenly again suffered poor balance and an inability to stand and it looked like I may have to have him put down rather let him live in pain and suffering.

After 2 months of laser and hydro-therapy treatment he can again stand and walk under his own steam, is lively and more like he was 2 years ago.
Thanks Helen and the team for giving me my boy back; he is so dear to me.

Jo Derbyshire

Taffy is my pal of 15+ years who has been coming to hydro and laser since May. He loves his sessions and tends to know we've got our weekly date time just me and him and is always up bright and breezy! When we get to canine hydro he starts with his laser session to soothe his aching old back legs and loves Lianne and Helen lots, this then sets him up nicely for his swim, he started off with Steve who he quickly grew to love and trust and then we've moved on to Helen and Shona and he enjoys his swims and cuddles. For an old dog he does fab and it really helps with his wobbly legs and is a lovely weekly treat for my little pal, we top it off with a nice shower every week too bad he looks dapper in his towelling robe. His treatment certainly helps keep those legs moving and gives Taffy the weekly boosts his needs to his joints for his walks, couldn't ask for more they are all bril.

Katie Carden

After having spinal surgery at the beginning of 2016 - it was suggested that Charlie had hydrotherapy so we were referred here!
The initial consultation was very in depth and plenty was asked about what Charlie had been through. Charlie was well and fit enough to go straight to the pool to start his hydro!
He was a little apprehensive at first but he didn't take long to relax and has loved coming ever since!
All the staff are absolutely brilliant with both Charlie and myself. Their knowledge is second to none and they have answered any questions I had. I'm a little sad Charlie has finished his sessions but we are definitely coming back!
Keep up the good work gang!!

Chris Goldthorp

We had thought about hydrotherapy for our old girl Sally a Collie/ Jack Russell cross for some time due to arthritis in her back legs. She's like a Collie stuffed into a Jack Russell body with little back legs. Other health issues came into play and her arthritis seemed to be worsening. This all pushed us into finding Canine Health and Hydro.
Well, it's the best thing we could have ever done for Sally!
After making an appointment Steve called me and had a really good chat asking about Sally, giving information on what would happen at the assessment offering advice about weight loss which was one of our goals for her.
Steve was great with Sally at her assessment and she went on to gave twice weekly pool sessions and now once weekly.
She sees different therapists who are are great, friendly and attentive to her. She has become more sprightly, moves better and has increased extension in her back legs. Oh and has lost almost 2Kg.
We highly recommend Canine Health and Hydro whose staff are always friendly and welcoming. They've helped improve an old girls quality of life! Thank you!

Gemma Kay

Can't thank Steve enough for the kindness and generosity he's shown and the teams continued efforts to help Loki the rescue husky with his hip dysplasia. Thanks to Helen in particular for her work with him, he's come so far already and I look forward to him progressing further. Such a lovely knowledgeable and professional bunch and nothing's too much for them. Thanks so much ? Love Loki Lou X

Anne Robinson

Cinni was really bad with walking, swollen elbows, could only walk a short distance - few hundred yards before lying down and wanting to go home. Since she has been coming to Canine Health and Hydro we have seen a total change - her movement is so much improved, she now wants to go for a walk and is gradually increasing the distance. Her sitting position and lying position are now "normal" and the swelling in her joints is virtually gone. Although she will never be 100% because of the problems she has, the work and dedication of the staff has made such an amazing difference. The understanding, patience and car they show helps so much and has given me so much confidence in knowing what they do can and does make such a big difference!
Thank you so much xx

Karen Mortimer

Leo is doing really well with the hydro. Just loves being with Ruth & Helen as he does the treadmill. They make him feel safe and secure and he is very trustworthy. Lianne is so patient with Leo with his laser treatment. Thank you so much! Would recommend these therapies for other cats as part of their recovery. They will be well looked after with the team at Canine Health and Hydro. We are very impressed with their love of animals and the care they receive. Thank you so much :) !! Purr!!

Maggie & Geoff Hanson

From the first encounter here we found both Ruth and Helen to be professional and caring. They both took the time to be extra aware of his fear of water in the hydrotherapy, also with the laser they took the time to explain everything to us. They had complete patience & understanding of him & us. We can not praise them enough for what they are doing for Farne.

Brian Wakeling

Jess has had a cruciate tear and uses both K-Laser and Hydrotherapy. All the staff are brilliant, in particular Ruth who has been fantastic at giving advice and Jess gives her lots of licks!
Highly recommended!

Tracy Horsfall

Referred via vets for Jack after two back knee operations to help build up muscles, been here 7-8 weeks and what a huge improvement as we can tell when walking him. Great staff who have worked with jack, Big difference, still as noisy if not nosier than before! Big thanks!

Julia Castellazzi

I feel very fortunate to have heard of this rehabilitation centre, Canine Health and Hydro, after one operation - Bilateral Luxating Patellas and another one planned for my CKCS, Tulip. The treatment has been excellent and has been extremely successful. All the staff have been helpful and and I thank in particular Lianne and Ruth for their friendly and professional care.

Kerrie Slater

Tilly has really come on whilst having the hydrotherapy sessions. I've never managed to get her in the water before. Her muscle is also back to nearly as it was before surgery. All the girls are fab and really good with Tilly as she is quite a nervous dog. Even managing to get her to jump in the water without help.

Susanne Engelmann

Since first coming to Canine Health and Hydro on recommendation my Billy is like a changed dog. Seeing him run again is the best thing ever! :) Thank you so much to Steve, Tracey, Ruth, Helen, Shona and Lianne for all you have done for us. You have made Billy one happy and healthy old boy! Love Sus x

Carley Anderson

After attending our vets for 10 weeks with Hugo's hind leg and a diagnosis of arthritis we saw Steve. Steve was not convinced it was just arthritis and after further tests Hugo was found to have Cruciate ligament rupture. Hugo had surgery in May and began to see Steve and the team again in July. All we can say is this team really do work miracles, Hugo is 11 but thanks to hydrotherapy and K laser he's bounding round like a puppy again. We cannot thank Steve and all his girls enough for giving Hugo his quality of life back.

Angela Stuttard

Monty was diagnosed with 3 bulging discs and was suffering with arthritis in both front elbows. Monty is a 91/2 year old Staffordshire Bull Terrier. His back legs weren't doing what he wanted, he struggled to remain balanced cocking his leg, he would suddenly loose his balance and sit down, he was down in the dumps and so was I. He didn't want to go out for walks and didn't want to play. Since attending hydro as a regular inpatient I cannot believe how much he has improved! He had regained his posture, he has regained his balance and leg movement. With K laser therapy his arthritis has calmed down and he no longer 'bobs' when walking. My monty is back and so is my sanity. We are on a journey and his rehabilitation has been a bit up and down, but he is now on the the right road. A typical staff who doesn't swim, he has been a bit stubborn! But with patience and encouragement all the staff have gained his trust and now he loves going. He has never been in kennels and I was worried about him being in inpatient for the whole day at a time, but he loves it there. I really can't express my gratitude to all the team who have not only worked wonders with monty but also been a fabulous support to me, providing me with additional advise and tips on his care, as well as tissues! I can't recommend canine health and hydro enough

Damian

Thankyou so much to all of the team and all of your tremendous dedication in Winstons rehab.
Damian

Pauline Jackson

Our golden labrador, Ellie, was suffering from stiffness in her joints and overweight. Our vet referred her to the Hydro for a course of treatment.
She had six laser treatments and ten sessions in the pool over the past ten weeks and has shown a lot of improvement.
She has also lost over four Kgs in weight due to Steve's diet recommendations.
The facilities on offer are first class and the staff have been amazing. Thanks for everything.

Susan Ansell

We would like to say thank you to Steve and his staff for giving Bonnie our French mastiff a new lease of life. She was very over weight but after going to hydro which she loved she lost one and a
half stone . A big thank you to you Steve .

Anthony Parkinson

On the 23rd June 2016, our precious little dog Poppy had a Traumatic Disc Extrusion, or as someone put it more loosely, a spinal stroke. At first she was paralysed in the hind legs. Having first taken her to North West Surgeons in Frodsham we were then referred to Canine Health and Hydro Ltd in Ribchester. We have to say that this was the best thing that would happen to her. Steve and his
staff were brilliant and over a ten sessions period Poppy has regained her fitness and confidence and is now enjoying life again. We can't thank them enough for, as Steve put it "getting our dog back". We would most certainly recommend them to anyone. A heartfelt thank you to Steve and his staff from ourselves and our family.

Grayeam, Julie and Dobby

Our dog Dobby loves the Hydro. He really enjoys the workout in the water - good for his osteo-arthritic bones - and has lost 22% of his starting body weight, making him sleek and much fitter.
Grateful thanks from us all to Steve and the team.

Rachel longstaff

What a fantastic establishment, I have been taking my 7 year old German Shepherd Sam weekly for hydrotherapy over the last few months to aid her recovery after injuring her cruciate ligament. I chose the Conservative management route over the TTA operation and with Steve and his teams hard work and experience she is like brand new and able to enjoy life to the full again! Can't thank Steve enough. I highly recommend canine health and hydro to anyone who wants the best for their pet.

Richard & Val Webster

Alfie our 10 year old jack Russell was diagnosed with a slipped disc, after a month of total rest we were recommended by a vet to have hydro therapy, after 10 sessions with Steve on the treadmill the results have been remarkable he now runs and jumps like a young dog and is in no pain whatever.

John Boothby

Max, our labrador retriever, has been refered to have hydrotherapy by his vet. Canine Health & Hydro at Howgill Farm has been brilliant for treating him. Steve and his team are a friendly,
knowledgeable, well practiced group who have aided Max with his recovery and exercise for his elbow dysplasia.
I would recommend the centre for anyone who has a dog in need of hydrotherapy, as Max not only gets treatment, but he loves it here too and gets excited when he realises it is time for his trip for
to Rimmington for his therapy.

Christine and John

buffy is a 18 month old jack Russell cross. At 14 month old she had a femoral head excision which meant the ball of her hip had to be removed as there was no blood circulation going to her hip. Our vet recommended hydrotherapy as buffy was not weight bearing. We got in touch with Steve and his team and Buffy started her treatment. She started in the pool then on the water treadmill now she is bouncing about again and using her leg which is an amazing achievement thanks to Steve for all his hard work and patience with Buffy. Many thanks Steve to you and all your team its amazing what you do for all those dogs young and old .

  • Hilary

Our dog milo has attended hydrotherapy for the last 6 weeks after being referred by our vets. What a fantastic place never thought milo would get in the pool as he hates puddles well he did and he absolutely loves it. Fantastic, friendly staff who really know their stuff. Big thank you for all your amazing work. Hilary, keeley and milo

Lesley & Richard

Our five year old Golden Retriever, Bess, has been going for hydrotherapy with Steve and Laser treatment with Leanne for the last six months. When we first took Bess to Rimmington for hydrotherapy we were apprehensive as the previous place we had taken her to had great difficulty encouraging Bess into the water...to the extent that it took two adults, one pulling and the other pushing her to get her in the pool; then once she was in, she was so stressed that she got no benefit from the sessions. When we first arrived for Bess’s assessment with Steve, he called her over and spent quite a while touching her, speaking to her, and getting to know her, and the places that her arthritis and the bulging disc in her spine were giving her pain and muscle spasms. Bess, who is a very ‘stressie’ dog, normally will speak to people she doesn’t know, but then returns to us for reassurance....well, she just melted at Steve’s touch....we have never seen anything like it. She was so relaxed with Steve that he had no problems getting her into the pool, and now, six months on, he struggles to stay upright when he gets into the pool with Bess, she is so excited to get her session with Steve underway! Bess’s pain levels have considerably reduced during the time she has been to the centre for treatment, and this is borne out in her medication coming down to minimal levels, and the fact that she very rarely goes to the vets now. We are incredibly grateful to Steve, Leanne and the team at Canine Health & Hydro for bringing our happy, fun-loving Bess back to us, after so many months of pain. Now every time she gets to the centre she goes mad and loves to run round and give everyone kisses. She doesn’t behave like this anywhere else, and we can only think that it is her way of saying thank you for all the help they have given her.

Christine
my 13 year old westie, jack, ruptured his cruciate ligament in march this year. my vet recommended conservative management and hydrotherapy. at first i said no to the hydro, as jack only likes a paddle and hates being out of his depth. however, just 3 - weeks later when i saw how much muscle tone he had lost i decided he would just have to "man up" and get swimming. thank goodness i did. after 21 sessions he is just about perfect. the muscle has built up and he is once again running across the moors, fields and woods. sadly he never did get to like the swimming part which was a shame as he proved to be a very good swimmer. thank you so much to all at CH&H. i have my boy back.
  • Caroline

  • Our 13 1/2 year old Golden Retriever Molly has been coming for hydro for 18 months and loves it. Although it has helped hugely, she still had pain with her arthritis despite medication. Steve suggested we try laser with Leanne. Molly has had 2 sessions now and we have a much happier dog. She is more playful and seems much more comfortable. She seems to really enjoy the laser sessions and I just wish I had tried them sooner. Hopefully we will continue to see improvements in our lovely old girl.

Clare

Brought my dog Daisy for k-laser with Lianne and don't regret it for a second. We were met by a warm welcome and made to feel at ease immediately. Daisy was given plenty of fuss and treated with care and patience even when she fidgeted during her treatment. Will definitely be coming back when she has had her second surgery as the laser definitely help aid her recovery from patella surgery. Many thanks Lianne

Laura

Just want to say the biggest thank you!! My sid came in after a spinal injury at the beginning of February. He had not been able to weight bare without the help of a sling. We were greatful he was still with us but almost resigned to him being a shadow of his former self. I asked my vet about the benefits of hydrotherapy and was referred to Steve and his team. Wow!! From the first session I had renewed hope for sid and I'm so glad I stuck with it. Now, only a few months later he is so fit and loves his swimming!! Sid is back running on the beach and through woods, something I never dared hope for. If you didn't know he'd had an injury you honestly wouldn't know. He took a lot of persuasion from Steve initially who was so patient throughout and now sid thoroughly enjoys his sessions! I cannot recommend this place enough!! I have got my nutty pointer back and I truly believe it is down to Steve and the thorough sympathetic sessions he has continued to put sid through. Thank you and we'll see you soon, Laura x

Letizia

The dedication of Steeve and his team to the health and well being of our dogs is of the highest standards. I cannot thank Steeve enough for teaching Coco our Newfie to swim. Unfortunately she fell in a deep pond as a puppy and was afraid of high waters, Steeve psicological approach has been fantastic and she has now fulfilled her ability to swim and loves it!

  • Danielle

We cannot recommend Canine Health and Hydro highly enough! The work that Steve and his team do is absolutely incredible. Our dog, Fergus had intermittent forelimb lameness that was gradually getting worse. There was no known cause and after x-rays came back clear he was referred for Hydrotherapy. Fergus has just completed his 8th weekly session and the transformation is unbelievable. Back in January, we couldn’t walk a mile without him starting to limp and he is now back off the lead and doing everything a fun-loving 2 year old dog should! Even after the intensity of the sessions has increased there has been no sign of lameness or stiffness, which has made us truly realise the benefit of this therapy. His fitness has improved massively and we strongly believe that hydrotherapy has not only increased his strength in the pool but out of it as well. Steve has carefully monitored Fergus’ progress from day 1 and gradually increased the intensity of his sessions as well as advising us on a training plan for walks and even helping sort some behavioural issues. Fergus absolutely loves the sessions and Steve is a natural with him. We plan to book 10 more sessions (moving from once a week to once every fortnight) because the hydrotherapy with Steve not only improves Fergus physically but also mentally. We cannot thank Canine Health and Hydro enough, we now have our superstar Fergus back!

Ben our 21 month old golden retriever.Suffered massive nerve damaged due to neglect in kennels, then man left him 3 days without seeing a vet!!! he was seen at Liverpool university had mri scans and they found a big blood clot, they operated to remove it but they advised amputation! which I said no I need give bengi more time, and get my head round it, so I thought about hydrotheraphy the neurologist daneil was ok with it. so I did some research and saw an article in Lancashire magazine. there he was steve maney canine health and hydotheraphy. I rang up got app on Monday morning ben walked in and loved steve straight away, he swam him and the trust he had in steve was amazing, steve and poppy are amazing people they took ben in there home for a month swam him 3 times a day , he then sat with lucy on reception, we started seeing progress it was overwhelming, I sat there many times crying to see my bengi get use back in his shoulder and leg, Fitzpatrick clinic saw him still advised amputation, but I still said no!! at xmas ben started to walk again and its all down to the decation , love and caring treatment he got here, I took ben back 3 week ago see his buddy steve who is god im eyes, I want people out there to know how good and fantastic steve and amy are they have given bengi his quality of life back thank you from his loving family Jeanette x tony bengi boo

  • Keith & Christine

we would like to thank Amy and Steve for their total commitment, care, advice and reassurance. our 12month old puppy Alfie was diagnosed with severe bi-lateral hip dysplasia in Oct 2014. we were devastated as Alfie had become quiet and obviously in pain. his back end was under developed and thin, it was so sad. Since attending CHH and Amy's hard work and devotion he is now a happy , playful puppy with muscles developing in his back legs. we are so happy with him now. we are also grateful for the reassurance Amy and Steve gave us. Many thanks to you all at CHH xx

We have 2 Border Terriers – Rocky and Winston. Rocky suffered a partially torn left cruciate ligament in May 2014. After a period of strict rest (easier said than done with a Border!) our vet suggested trying hydrotherapy to strengthen the weak leg and referred us to Canine Health & Hydro. WOW. WHAT A PLACE! Rocky has a tendency to be a little “nervous” around strangers but as soon as he met Steve, he was putty in his hands - we’ve never looked back. Rocky loved the pool and Steve’s expertise in everything canine is second to none. Rocky fully recovered from his injury after a 10 week program of one swim a week (a real workout for the little chap) – until October when he then tore his right cruciate. We needed no referral this time – another 10 sessions booked – another operation avoided – and now a fully fit Rocky. We now take both Rocky and Winston for a weekly swim for fun and fitness and they love it. Winston is a little stubborn and won’t use his back legs to swim – at the moment! But if anyone can get those legs moving it will be Steve! They have great fun swimming around after the toys and love the between swim massages! And I must mention the other aspect to Canine Health & Hydro - the groom school. We had our boys hand-stripped in August 2014 and what a great, professional job was done with them. Needless to say that they’re booked in again for stripping in February. We can’t recommend Canine Health & Hydro enough – all the team are so friendly and so client focussed. If anyone reading this is at all sceptical about hydrotherapy and my (and other’s) testimonials are not enough, go to Canine Health & Hydro’s Facebook page and read the truly amazing story about Ben. A continuing thanks to all at Canine Health & Hydro.

Julie

We decided to take Sam along to Canine Health& Hydro as he had limp which our vet thought could be a degenerative cruciate ligament problem. Steve diagnosed muscle wastage in his leg as well and started work to build up the muscle and support the cruciate. After a course of 10 treatments Sam was much improved, improved muscle and hardly a limp. As Sam was loving the sessions with Steve and Amy we decided to continue the therapy and now take him monthly to keep up the muscle tone and for fun. Sam has never been fitter or happier. So if you are considering treatment here don't hesitate. Sam highly recommends it.

Sheila & John

Holly is our nine year old Labrador. She injured her back leg whilst out on a walk and was prescribed steroids, minimum walking and rest. This continued for a number of weeks but she didn't seem to be improving. I looked at Steve's web site and was impressed by all the positive testimonials. At Holly's initial assessment we were surprised at how quickly Steve established trust with Holly. He explained how his was a holistic approach and gave us advice on exercise and weight. Holly loved her first session and didn't want to get out of the pool. Now she is a different dog. She is back walking on the moors - sometimes even running - and has regained her playfulness and zest for life. She has completed her 10 week course and we have signed up for a further 10 as we are delighted with her progress and all the hard work Steve has done with her. We can't thank Steve enough for all his dedication, professionalism and commitment to his work. He has given Holly her quality of life back and for us that means so much. I would like to nominate him to be the "Dog Whisperer of England" - who needs Cesar Millan!!

Louise

We want to sincerely thank Steve for his commitment and support in significantly helping our beautiful 15 month old cocker to get back to full health and fitness after his terrible illness!! Our dog 'Leo' was taken seriously ill and was admitted into Liverpool University intensive care unit, where he miraculously pulled himself back from near death. When we first brought him to see Steve he was a very weak and poorly dog but within weeks of hydrotherapy and Steves fabulous diet and exercise advice he strenghened within no time!! Leo loves Spending time in the pool with Steve and both us and our vets are overwhelmed at how quickly Leo has returned to health!! Thank you so much Steve.

Michael

My Westie pup had a hip condition. He was limping and not using his right back leg, the vet thought it better to leave treatment to see if bob would recover when growing. His leg worsened rapidly and he underwent an operation to remove his femoral head and neck. So bob now had no right hip joint. Bob recovered a little but needed more. I got a referral to Steve from my vets. His leg was withered and wasted. Steve got Bob into the pool he loved it and Steve said he worked well in the pool. He took video under the water to show me how bob was swimming. Bobs recovery was outstanding and now when I walk behind him there is no evidence of the limp and the muscle has returned to normal. I cannot thank Steve and his staff enough for all the work they have done. Now bob can run circles round me. Thank You.

Nicky

Our boy Baxter is an 11 year old springer who has always been a fit and healthy boy, however stiffness in his back legs (due to age) and an old injury was preventing him from enjoying his life to the full. He struggled jumping up for cuddles and when really stiff wouldn't jump onto his favourite spot in the house, the doggie couch :-) He was a little miserable and didn't enjoy play time the same. After passing Canine Health & Hydro one day I checked out their website and decided to ask my vet for a referral. The following week we went to see Steve who recommended a course of swim sessions. Baxter has always loved the water and couldn't wait to get started. He has now had 6 sessions and I cannot believe the change in him. He has not only lost weight but more importantly he can stand on his back legs once again and jump for special cuddles. He even plays again with his brother and of course us. He is weight baring on his back legs again so I cannot recommend this treatment highly enough. Your dogs will love it. The staff are also very friendly and knowledgeable. Give it a go Nicky, James, Madi, Baxter & Bruno

Eve & Noel

Our Labradoodle Seth has hip dysplasia. He is 7 years old. After a 10 week course of hydrotherapy he is now having monthly sessions. He loves swimming and has lost 5kgs in weight; is fitter; jumps in/out of the car; and is much happier. We have followed Steve's canine dietary advice, and are thrilled at the progress Seth has made. He loves attending the centre and enjoys his regular grooming sessions. We can't thank Steve and Poppy enough for helping us to improve upon Seth's quality of life.

Nancy

Our 6 year old black lab, Lola had an operation on her elbow and although started to make some recovery, was still left with a limp. 10 sessions in the pool with Steve sorted her out! Initially she was nervous of the pool and the new situation, but she quickly grew to love it and started to cry in the car as soon as we got there with excitement and anticipation and practically leapt in the pool. Thank you Steve. We are eternally grateful.

Adrienne

Thank you to Steve for making such a difference to Alfie. He developed Immune mediated Arthritis and had lost his spark never mind his muscle. We were really concerned over the change in our lively Jack Russell, he had become very lethargic and was struggling to go on his walks. Our vet recommended Canine hydrotherapy and Alfie has really improved with the sessions. An added bonus is that he really loves going and is desperate to get in the pool! Five stars from us.

  • My 7 year old beagle, Milo, injured his cruciate ligament earlier on in the year. He was unable to walk and unable to put any weight on the back leg that he had injured. As you would be I was very worried about him and honestly thought that we may lose him due to the pain that he was in. The vet gave me 2 options... An operation which had no guarantee of success or hydrotherapy to try and rebuild and fix the damaged ligaments. I chose the hydrotherapy option because I thought that if this didn't work, we the still had the operation route to try and fix him. A HUGE improvement was seen in Milo after his 1st session with Steve. I really couldn't believe it. Beagles are known for not being the best swimmers, but after sessions so far, you want to see my boy go! Milo is back to his bonkers, pain free happy self and it is all down to Steve. I'm totally amazed at the results and so happy to see my boy running around the fields again like he should. The ten sessions are nearly done with now but I'm going to continue to bring him to Steve to maintain the work done with him over the past ten weeks. Milo doesn't even need his armbands anymore :-) I can't thank Steve enough and would recommend this treatment to anyone. :-

  • On my 'to do list' has been to swim with my dog Puddin, who is an 11 year old Collie cross. Puddin also has arthritis in his hips and was occassionally struggling to get up stairs, he is also a very complex character (just like his owner!) So I set about initially finding a pool that we could just swim in and be left alone to it as, he isn't the best with new people. I found Canine Health & Hydro and made the call... He isn't great with new people I said, he has never bit anyone but he might I said, he is very naughty I said, I don't think you will be able to take him into the water yourself I said, I don't even think he will like the water I said. Steve just said confidently he will be fine, just need a vet referral. And then went to the vet for his referral. The vet was happy to refer but her parting words was 'are you sure Steve can will be able to handle him?'(Puddin doesn't like being shut into small rooms so went a bit nuts with the vet trying to poke him). Our first day, I arrived petrified with a load of what if's.... Steve met puddin for the first time and within 10 minutes of us walking in Puddin had his life jacket on and was in the pool not only that Puddin immediately starting playing with the ball. He showed no signs of any naughty behavior or nervousness. Nothing of what I had pre-warned Steve of. I figured what I kind of already new, I am way too protective of Puddin and am the one with the nerves! 10 weeks on and Puddin loves going swimming, he has to enter the pool with a running sideways slide and I trust Steve with Puddin completely. Not only has his swimming helped his hips as now he walks and runs upstairs a lot easier. I have actually witnessed my dog truly happy... only wish I had done this years ago! And Steve thanks for helping me to chill out a lot too! You are probably the calmest person I know!

We have a 5year old Golden Retriever ,Harry, who is recovering from a cruciate ligament and a low grade mast cell tumour on the same leg. It has been going on for over 12 months and we had nearly forgotten what it was like to have a healthy mobile dog. Since attending his weekly hydrotherapy session he has come on in leaps and bounds. The added advantage is that he really loves it! He cannot wait to get in to the car when we utter the magic words "swimming" or" lets go and see Steve"! He is weight bearing on the operated leg, his gait has improved and he has started to lose weight. He is a much happier dog and we are much happier owners thanks to Steve and his care and advice.

  • Alison and Andy

  • In the short space of time our dog has been seeing Steve, we are very impressed with the way he has improved after his hip displaysia procedure. Steve has really worked hard with him and a difference was noticed after about 3 sessions. Would thoroughly recommend it. Bluey is going to miss his weekly sessions and Steve.

3 weeks ago today, our 9 year old spaniel cross Lola, was happily playing with her pals at the park, when she suffered a spinal stroke. This is where part of the cartilage of the spinal discs breaks free and lodges in the spinal cord, causing lameness. Lola lost use of her left hind leg, her tail and control of her bowel. She was unable to sit or lay down properly and couldn't weight bear or walk without us using a sling to help her. After her MRI, we were advised to consider hydrotherapy as an aide to her recovery, although we had to consider that it may take months and she would probably only gain 80% usage back. On emailing Steve (many anxious times in 48hrs), he rang me from his family holiday (thank you) to book me in on their return to the UK. We saw Steve the day after his family arrived back home. Now after only 4 hydro sessions, Lola is doing amazing. She is now weight bearing, walking (albeit with a slight limp), is jumping up on our bed, chasing the cat and her ball and is sitting and laying as before. Her tail wag is back too! We have in fact just been on a walking holiday to the lakes and she managed 3x 8 mile walks and 2x 4 mile walks. She has another 6 hydro sessions to go and I cannot wait to see the results. I would advise anyone whose dog suffers from a spinal stroke to waste no time on commencing hydrotherapy. The longer you think about it the less likely your much loved pooch will recover to the extent Lola has. Start hydro ASAP and give your dog the chance to lead a happy/normal life again. I would also advise that the fitter and slimmer your dog is prior to the stroke, the better the recovery. Lola was and still is thanks to Steve an active dog who has already gained back 90% use and normality. Steve ... I cannot thank you enough and I will endeavour to promote you and your expertise to all because hydrotherapy really does work!

May 2013 our beautiful 8yr old King Charles became paralysed at her rear end and was diagnosed with a severe slipped disc. After undergoing major surgery and two and a half weeks in hosital Elle came home. She was paralysed for a week after the op but then gradully was able to stand with a sling under her back end for support. She was also incontinent. We continued to use the sling as she could not walk without it and we could take her in the garden to encourage her to do her toilet. After about 3 weeks she was using the garden to toilet with only a few accidents inside. It was Steves advert in our local paper that got me interested. I rang Elle's surgeon who said go for it. We did, and twelve months on Elle is walking unaided, she even runs when the mood takes her, she has lost weight and is now within the Cavaler ideal weight. She is 9 next month and has never been healthier we can never thank Steve enough for what he has done for Elle he has given us back our little girl. We still give her hydrotherapy and will continue to do so for as long as Elle is enjoying it.

Mr and Mrs Lenarcic

Molly is our 12 year old Golden Retriever who 3 months ago had a sudden and severe onset of arthritis in her rear legs. She was unable to walk comfortably and started on medication from the vets. I decided to try hydrotherapy and was recommended Canine Health and Hydro. Molly didn't take to the water straight away but Steve was very patient with her allowing her to get used to the warm water and surroundings. Now after 6 sessions there is no stopping her swimming after her ball! She has built up her muscle strength and out of the water she walks comfortably and even wants to run which seems like a miracle. I would recommend Canine Health and Hydro to anyone and can't thank them enough for the improvements in Molly.

Fran & Russ

Back in October 2013 our 5 year old wire Haired Dachshund Diesel was diagnosed with disc herniation and required immediate surgery at Liverpool small animal hospital. After this he came to work with Steve in the pool the transformation has been amazing after 10 sessions, the dog I thought would never walk properly again is now able to go out & about with only a minor wobble! being in the pool & being made to work regained his muscle tone and focused his brain on moving his legs. Thanks Steve for showing me what can be done to give a dog back his independence.

Judy

My Welsh Springer bitch Rye (Bushwacker Perfect Storm for Laithmoor), aged 2, is probably one of the younger clients using the hydrotherapy facility. I initially brought her to build up muscle because she has been diagnosed as having a minor degree of hip dysplasia--certainly not enough to affect her movement at this stage of her life, but I felt hydrotherapy would benefit her as a good source of non-percussive exercise. Behind that lay a completely different, and even more important aim: Rye had separation anxiety, was not at ease with dogs (other than her own pack), was very insecure without her pack and had been unsettled in the show ring. On our first visit Rye tried every trick in the book to scramble out of the pool, and her distress and frustration became very vocal when she was not allowed to run back to me. Gradually Steve wore down her resistance by using her natural retrieving instincts. For the first time in her life she is now looking for someone else’s attention and approval. Steve has absolutely turned her around through patient, hard work, getting at the key things that motivate her and using them to develop a more balanced dog. Hydrotherapy is usually recommended to deal with physical injury or disability, but for me, by far the more exciting part of this process has been witnessing its psychological impact on a dog locked into insecure behaviours. While the exercise has undoubtedly helped her to mature physically, her attitude is markedly more positive and this has been especially noticeable in her performance in the show ring. I would absolutely recommend Canine Heath and Hydro as an outstanding facility, but in particular would like thank Steve forhis excellent work. He as a very highly skilled therapist who has turned Rye into a confident and happier girl, and we both look forward to our weekly visits.

Leigh & Raven

Our 5 year 8 months old Black Labrador, Marley, has recently started his second course of sessions with Steve, after he worked wonders with Marley. On 1st December 2013 Marley suffered a huge Fibrocartilagenous Embolism whilest running and chasing his tennis ball on the field. He was instantly paralized from halfway down his spine on his rear end. After a night in the emergency vets and 16 days/nights at the Small Animals Hospital at Liverpool university, we brought Marley home with very little movement in his back legs, an not even a wag from his tail. The day after we rang Steve and he instantly booked us in for a consultation, on a Saturday as well !! Steve was so enthusiastic and excited to work with Marley, from the second we struggled in with Marley's rear legs in a sling. And after only the consultation we saw signs of improvement. Marley started an intense course of 2 sessions a week with Steve and has not we looked back since. Twelve or so sessions later, Marley is unrecognisable from the dog we first took to Steve. He can now walk without his sling, do a bunny-hop-style run and even start to sit up on his back legs like he use to. We cannot thank Steve enough for the hard work, help and patience he has put into giving us our cheeky boy back.

Natalie & Lynton

Max our 6 Year old Staffy has just finished his 10th session of Hydro. We initially brought him to help with his weight loss and lameness after long walks. We was unsure how Max would react as he has never been in water before but after his first taster session we knew he was in safe hands with Steve! Max has benefitted massively from his sessions by him getting the exercise he needed without causing stiffness with his joints. As a dog owner you only want the best for your pet and with Canine Health & Hydro you get that from start to finish.

Joanne

Noah our big fat Rottweiler; started Hydrotherapy with canine health and hydro, on the 2nd February after undergoing an operation for a cruciate ligament injury, he was then referred via the surgeon to Steve at Hydrotherapy. Noah was not the best around water, he certainly wouldn't have even gone near a pool and or any water; this was a little worrying at first, we wasn't sure Noah would be able to cope with the session; it was also a little worrying because Noah is a little aloof around men and this concerned us slightly, I didn't think he would take to Steve; how wrong were we !!! Noah took to Steve almost instantly, I have never seen him trust a man so quickly before, it usually takes a while for that to happen, but, not for Steve, it was almost like they had met before and as for the pool....well, no problems their either, he walked with Steve outside and climbed in the pool with more confidence that we thought he would. Noah weighed around 12 stone and was terribly overweight which were affecting his ability to walk, thus putting more pressure on his knee, this didn't help the healing process. Noah took to swimming really well, his trust for Steve astounded us; his swimming has improved so much; he does not have buoyancy anymore; Steve took time out to watch how he moves his legs in the water and how he can strengthen Noah's leg; this has been fantastic, he no longer limps on his leg as much and he eats and sleeps much better. Steve has helped Noah so much; his ability to move around has become much stronger, he has lost over 4kilos in the past 5 weeks, he's a much happier dog and looks forward to going Swimming every week, so much so that we will continue with his hydro even after the allotted appointments are complete. My son came to watch Noah and thought Steve was the coolest person he'd met (that from a 17yr old is pretty good). I would totally recommend this service to anybody, Steve has shown us that having a big fat Rottweiler who is frightened of water and aloof around men, and limp like an old fella can change so dramatically physically and mentally; without the hydro team I am sure Noah would still be suffering, big massive thank you to Steve....and all the team, who are very friendly and professional people.

Andy

Our chocolate lab Max has elbow dysplasia which meant he was struggling to walk too far. This in turn contributed to a significant weight gain which in turn exacerbated the elbow problems - a proper vicious circle. On the recommendation of a friend we tried CH&H and the improvement is obvious. Steve advised a change of diet & a course of 10 sessions. We've just done session 7 & the weight is starting to fall off, Max is so much stronger & fitter and there is a massive improvement every week. He so obviously enjoys his hydro sessions & this in turn is making him much more energetic on his walks. Can't recommend Steve highly enough.

Sarah

Sasha our 11 year old Newfoundland was suffering dreadfully with joint problems which in turn caused overweight issues & open sores on her joints which wouldn't heal due to medication including high steroids. Vet recommended we booked our course in hope of some improvement Within 2 sessions with Steve we could see our old Newfie getting back to her old self. We have just finished the course of 10 sessions she has dropped over 6kg & we have halved her steroid intake as her mobility ( I would say) is now equivalent to a 7 year old Newfie. She is bounding, happy & healthy. The results are way beyond our expectations! Thank you Steve, the results are outstanding!

Lorraine

Our Alaskan Malamute Blitzen suffered a carpal collapse 4 years ago. She had numerous operations inserting metal plates and screws, nearly lost the leg following gangrene and suffered a break to the leg a year ago. She has had a heavy limp for the past four years. We decided to try hydro therapy not expecting very much to be honest! How wrong we were, she has benefitted hugely - she is much stronger generally, only limps now when she has overdone things and her stamina has increased . After nine sessions of ten we can say without hesitation she will be back! Steve has done a fantastic job - many thanks.

John

My cairn terrier had pulled the cruciate ligament in one of her back legs and four trips to the vets had not resulted in any improvement. Fortunately someone recommended I contact Canine Health and Hydro. Steve advised a course of 10 x thirty minutes sessions in the pool. After just two sessions I could see a marked improvement and after all the sessions she was cured. I have no hesitation in whole heartedly recommending Steve and CH&H

Diane, Jonathan, Lucas and Lucy

Our vet recommended Steve and CH&H for our Choccy Lab Lucy who at 11 years old had gained weight on top of an arthritis problem and got into a downward spiral of not wanting to go out for walks and gaining more weight. The first trial session was initially upsetting as we were told that our most treasured friend had also lost significant muscle tone in her back legs which we were not aware of. However Steve was both realistic and reassuring about helping Lucy and put together a program of diet and hydro treatments. Lucy was reluctant to go in the water at first but through Steve's unique magical way that he so quickly builds the trust and rapport with your dog he soon gave Lucy the confidence to dip her paws in the water. Six sessions in and we can see a marked difference in her appearance and whole demeanour, she is obviously in less pain and has begun to look forward to short walks again now going to the door where her lead is. We have got a bit of our puppy girl back again. the whole atmosphere at CH&H is welcoming and professional and you instantly feel that your dog is in safe hands. Steve we can't thank you enough for all that you have done for Lucy so far, we still have quite a lot of work ahead of us but you will get her there for certain.

Alex

My mother-in-law's dog Bertie was in a terrible state. He was 14 years old, suffering from arthritis and grossly over weight. His back legs totally went and she was going to have him put down but we took him to Canine Health & Hydro to see if anything could be done. Steve was amazing, he came with a recovery plan including swimming exercise, diet, massaging and daily exercise. Six weeks later Bertie's back on all fours, tail wagging and 4kg lighter. We still have a bit to go before Bertie is down to his target weight but I'm confident that it won't be a problem. The transformation seen since we first took Bertie there has been miraculous and given his owner the best Christmas present she could wish for. I will most definitely be recommending their services to other fellow dog owners and friends. Massive thanks to Steve and the team at Canine Health & Hydro

Anne

Wow - what a place so very professional and inviting somewhere everyone with a dog should know about should they require rehabilitation, recovery, performance, fitness or fun for their best pal as they deserve the best. We took Alice our 6 month old weimaraner for a fun swimming session to help build her confidence in water and with Steves help she was like a little duck she will be returning to continue her confidence building in water. A big thanks Steve x

Georgia

I took my dog, Rossi, to the health and hydro centre with Steve for a desensitization therapy session to help him cope with fireworks and other loud bangs. We had tried everything the vet suggested (such as plug ins and a firework CD) but nothing worked and bonfire night and new years eve have been traumatic for him for the past 4 years. However after the therapy session with Steve, Rossi was coping much better with the fireworks and now I know how to help him overcome his fear. Definitely a success, would recommend the centre to anyone for any of treatments they offer.

Sandra

Our dog J.C. has just had his eleventh session of hydrotherapy after his ligament op.(counting the free one) Steve has been amazing with J.C. he's the dog whisperer of Lancashire & Yorkshire! J.C. has loved the sessions every week - we will certainly be going back for more - the grooming Steve gave J.C. is one of the best he has had and the photos will be treasured memories for a long time to come. I would recommend Canine Health & Hydro without any hesitation - all the services they offer are some of the best we have seen. Well done! keep up the good work.

Simon

I cannot thank Steve and his team enough for the dedication and care they've shown Max. A 7 year old Boxer whom it appears has gone for a while with undiagnosed arthritis in his back left leg, Max was losing muscle tone and standing lame after exercise. It wasn't a quick overnight change, but definitely by the 3rd or 4th session there was a marked improvement in Max's stamina, walking and definition. After 10 sessions Max was looking very fit and solid. No longer lame and able to do short bursts of exercise off lead in the field with good recovery, I have Steve's professionalism and honest advice to thank for it. Keen that Max doesn't regress, I've booked him I for 10 more sessions on a maintenance plan.

Kaya is a Northern Inuit she is 3 years old and was diagnosed earlier this year with Bi Lateral Hip Displasyia a course of hydrotherapy was recommended so kaya,s mum contacted Steve at canine health& Hydro .Kaya weighed in at 40.80 kgs at the beginning of her sessions ,so she was also overweight ,so we began the course and working alongside a weight reduction programme the work started .Kaya was initially not to sure of the pool but has time went by she started to love it and began to adore Steve ,he worked her more bit by bit and has her muscle tone began to build up more the more she enjoyed being worked .All this being done under Steve,s guidance.Kaya completed her 10 sessions and results were starting to show ,one of the other issues was getting on top of her weight so having done a total change of diet results was staring to show .A further 10 sessions was advised and i must say this was the best professional advice ever .Kaya is now on her 19th session .She has trebled in her fitness and muscle tone and along with a weight reduction programme has gone from the 40.80kgs to 35.15kgs .She is now such a happier girl and dare i say it ...shes back to puppy mode again ....this is just wonderful to see .I cannot recommend Steve enough he has helped me change kaya,s life with his knowledge and expertise of what is needed for our beautiful furries who have been diagnosed with this unfortunate problem .I would just lie to end by saying last week i took Kaya along with my other dog on a 8km walk which she completed without any issue after months of work to buid this back up it has worked .Thankyou Canine Health & hydro .Kaya xx

Dave & Carol

3 Months ago Bruno our German Shepard Cross, Age unsure but an old chap that we rescued was on 3 legs due to a bad bite from a dog attack, he had 2 operations on his leg and it wasn't looking good. Our Vet advised Hydrotherapy and after a 10 session course with Steve he is back on 4 legs and running around, his old Bruno self! The water sessions were wonderful, absolutely MAGIC! Very recomended - Thank you Steve. Dave & Carol and a BIG BIG Thankyou from BRUNO.

Leanne

Murphy has just finished his 10 sessions of Hydrotherapy. I cannot thank Steve enough. I would highly recommend Hydro which has helped Murphy as he has been struggling with his joints. Murph is 10 years old and not being able to take him on long walks with his ball was heartbreaking. With Steve's experience in getting to know and bond with your dog and the advice and persistent sessions we have had we have finally got there. Murph went to Southport on Sunday and we enjoyed a lovely day, something we have not done for a few months. Steve I cannot recommend you enough. You are a born natural with dogs and are highly recommended. We are definately carrying on with the sessions. Thanks Canine Health & Hydro for all your help, advice & fun swimming times. Leanne & Murphy (Woof)! :-)

Mark and Lauraine

I Write my note with reference to our four year old Staff Cross Jeff, Jeff regrettably had to have a cruciate ligament repair recently and following a period of short walks our vet recommended if possible a course of Hydrotherapy to further assist with Jeff's rehabilitation. My wife and I arranged for Jeff to visit for a “trial " swim which went well apart from me getting in trouble for laughing at Jeff splashing around! and my wife's serious apprehension that Jeff would not enjoy or tollerate the sessions. We are now six sessions into the ten recommended by Steve and have already future booked for ongoing “maintenance “for the little fellow. I say little fellow as Steve on day one noticed ( much to my wife's disapproval ) that Jeff was to say the least somewhat over weight ( it would seem toast is not good for dogs ! ) however Steve struck a chord and by following his reccomended simple diet plan Jeff is now a light weight, stream lined swimming expert. I cannot recommend highly enough the service Steve provides and I would add that both his knowledge and skills in handling dogs would be fair to say are second to none. If he can turn a crazy frog like Jeff into a lean mean swimming machine he is quite simply a genius!. We are pleased to say that Jeff is back on track following his surgery and has no restrictions in movement following the opp, this is as a result of the swimming sessions to which we are eternally grateful.Steve many thanks for your efforts to date with Jeff they are truly appreciated.

Martin, Sammy

We were advised to try Canine Health and Hydro through our vet, after our Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Bailey was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. He immediately trusted Steve, which filled us with confidence from the off. Within a few sessions Bailey was having so much fun in the pool, whilst still receiving his much needed exercise. Now our 10 sessions are over, we would definately recommend Steve and the hydro therapy and will most certainly be going back for more swims. Not only is Steve great with dogs, he gives the owners much needed advise. For this we are very grateful. Thanks Steve Martin, Sammy and Bailey

lisa

What a difference 10 sessions make!!!!! our 2 year old labrador Murphy started the sessions at 30 kg with a limp that no VET could diagnose! With the help of Steve and a good diet Murphy has managed to loose an incredible 4 kg in just 10 sessions!!!! murphy's limp has improved and his weight loss can only be a massive benefit to his well being! Also must note that Murphy couldn't wait to get into the pool... Totally loved it!!! Thank you so much Steve am sure we'll be back! Lisa and Anthony Lord xx

Julian

We contacted Steve after our puppy Alfie was diagnosed with elbow dysplacia and somoen recommended Canine Health and Hydro. After a few sessions we managed to get Alfie off all the pain killers and anti-inflamatory drugs seeing a noticeable improvement in his mobility and discomfort. We can thoroughly recommend Steve and the hydro therapy, Alfie's so much better and almost like a normal dog now with a great quality of life, many thanks Steve, we'll be coming back for top up sessions and would recommend anyone with a similar problem with their dog to give this a try, many thanks, the Barnes family and Alfie

Jim

sam our 11year old border collie has been having hydrotherapy swimming sessions with Steve for the past 9 weeks. He has been suffering with arthritis in his hips and back legs His muscules have grown stronger and can jump in the car and is walking better he has got his old bounce back Steve is very professional the way he goes about the sessions and good with the dog we will be continuing with the sessions as sam enjoys them to

Andy & Michelle

Our Springer Spaniel, Lexy, had an operation for a ruptured cruciate ligament & our vet referred us for hydrotherapy. Lexy had become withdrawn & quite nervous following the op. Steve was brilliant. He was very patient & receptive to Lexy's needs & after only a few sessions we could see the benefits not only physically, but mentally to her. She is well on her way back to full fitness. She loves the sessions & has 4 more to go. We would recommend Canine Health & Hydro without hesitation. We can't thank you enough Steve! Andy & Michelle

Emma

AMAZING first hydro session last week Steve, you are brilliant. Cooper seemed to enjoy himself and was very tired after his swim session (or rather splashing session!), I have no doubt you're going to get his back legs working properly, and for him to actually be able to swim and like it. Thanks for soaking me too! See you Sunday. Emma x

Joanne and paul

Bobby has severe arthritis in both front legs, his exercise is very limited. He was putting on a lot of weight due to medication, he has just completed 10 weeks rehab and is losing weight a lot happier in himself, prior to going to Canine Health & Hydro he never swam, now he loves swimming un -aided-and loves playing with his ball in the pool with Steve. Thanks Steve you have done wonders with Bobby, he's looking forward to his next 10 sessions. Best Regards & Thankyou Joanne & Paul Clough

Pam

Steve has helped my Border Collie after extensive surgery. She came to us from a breeding farm so was also very scared but Steve's handling of her has been wonderful. I didnt think she would swim but with his gentle way she has progressed beyond my expectations and gained in confidence and also the Hydro Therapy that was recommended by my Vet has helped her gain muscle and strength in her leg. Cant speak more highly of Canine health & Hydro.

Jenny

This is a must experience for any dog for a number of reasons. My dog Mollie was nervous around water at the beginning of the 5 weeks sessions. Last night she was happily swimming around, relaxed and enjoying the water. Thats down to Steve, giving Mollie and me the encouragement to overcome her fear and ensure she enjoys water. Thanks a million Steve. Go on try it yourself.

Sarah

I have been taking my munsterlander and lab cross to swimming for a couple of months now. They have loved every single minute of it! The first session it took 15-20 minutes to encourage them into the pool. Tonight...I nearly got dragged in! Their fitness levels have increased two fold and it's been great to see them enjoy it so much! It has especially helped my munsterlander build muscles that aren't used as much, which has in turn helped her in the show ring.

Andrew

Just to say a big thank you to everyone at the centre yesterday as Molly had a wonderful time swimming and being pampered. Great knowledge from the staff, friendly and helpful. Would, and will, recommend to everyone.

Stephen

Charlie, our 13 year old springer spaniel, really enjoyed his 10 sessions with Steve. His movement and mobility really improved over the weeks. I would definitely recommend the Hydro therapy for any dog suffering from mobility issues. Steve really knows how to connect to your dog.

Catherine

Milly our 18 month Border Collie has just had her 2nd Hydro session with Steve. It is amazing how she has progressed her hip and leg have improved so much since her treatment started and she has lost her limp. Thankyou Steve you are doing a great job with her. Looking forward to her next session.

Leanne

Freddie has had another fun time with Steven today. He improved so much from his first session and even jumped in for the first time! He will benefit so much from these sessions and having taken him to another hydrotherapy centre in the past can see how good and how professional this one is.

Julie Ann

Zak our Newfoundland dog had the best experience today with Steve in the Hydrotherapy pool. He was also pampered with a bath, massage, grooming & photo shoot. Lovely venue, very friendly experienced staff. Definitely recommended.Xx

Mark

Our Chocolate Lab Poppy has had 3 sessions with Steve and is already showing improvment, Poppy can't wait to get into the water. Steve puts her at complete ease ... she loves the sessions. Highly recomnded.

Debbie Wilde

I would recommend canine health to anybody, my Labrador Stevie has been having Hydrotherapy after having a couple of operations on his Leg. He has benefited so much, has much more movement in the leg
and less pain. Steve and his team have been fantastic.

howard brown

After having treatment with Steve after his operation our 1 year old patterdale junior has made a brilliant recovery due to having treadmill therapy and he really enjoyed it too thankyou from Howard
and Donna Brown

Allan and Sue Humphreys

Our Border Collie Zak contracted Hypertrophic Osteodystrophy (HOD) when he was 6months old. HOD is a bone disease that occurs more commonly in fast-growing large and giant breed dogs. HOD is
characterized by decreased blood flow to the metaphysis (the part of the bone adjacent to the joint) leading to a failure of ossification (bone formation) and necrosis and inflammation of cancellous
bone. Fortunately Zak recovered and managed to live with his condition with no ill effects other than his back legs were slightly weak and deformed. As he approached old age his back legs grew weaker
so we decided to investigate on a course of Hydrotherapy.
So at the age of 12 we visited Steve at Canine Health and Hydro to determine what might be possible. After a thorough examination and assessment of Zak’s overall fitness he had a trial swim and loved
it. A course of 10 weekly sessions were signed up to.
Steve and the team at Canine Health and Hydro were professional, extremely patient, and caring in Zak’s weekly sessions. As Zak’s confidence grew the sessions became more intense and the strength in
his hind legs improved.
Unfortunately Zak had some more serious underlying issues which only came to light following blood tests and x-ray’s and unfortunately he had to be put to sleep two weeks ago - he is missed
terribly.
Had we realised the benefits of Hydrotherapy earlier then we believe that Zak’s overall fitness would have been enhanced and his quality of life improved.
Thank you Steve and the Team we thoroughly recommend your services and only regret that we didn’t find you sooner.

Oscar is a Staffy Cross (we think with a Boxer) and is very energetic and strong. When we found he had torn a hind ligament in the knee joint it was a massive blow both to him and us. His whole
character changed and he became quite withdrawn apart from having to hobble about on three legs. Following a very successful operation the vet recommended that Oscar underwent a course in
hydrotherapy and so we met Steve who went through the process he could offer. Initially I was somewhat sceptical as to what could be achieved in the recommended 10 sessions but these were soon
allayed when it was clear that the hard work on the treadmill in the water tank was paying off. Oscar has never been a great lover of water but he took to it well and with a little encouragement
worked very hard.
Apart from Steve his assistant Sian was great with Oscar and obviously has a genuine love for the work.
Oscar is now charging around as before and we are back to having to return "stolen" balls to other owners again which is great!
Well done Steve and team.

I would recommend the centre for anyone who has a dog in need of hydrotherapy, as Max not only gets treatment, but he loves it here too and gets excited when he realises it is time for his trip for
to Rimmington for his therapy.

buffy is a 18 month old jack Russell cross.

  • my 13 year old westie, jack, ruptured his cruciate ligament in march this year. my vet recommended conservative management and hydrotherapy. at first i said no to the hydro, as jack only likes a paddle and hates being out of his depth. however, just 3 - weeks later when i saw how much muscle tone he had lost i decided he would just have to "man up" and get swimming. thank goodness i did. after 21 sessions he is just about perfect. the muscle has built up and he is once again running across the moors, fields and woods. sadly he never did get to like the swimming part which was a shame as he proved to be a very good swimmer. thank you so much to all at CH&H. i have my boy back.

Bert our border terrier ruptured his cruciate ligament. Hydro therapy wad recommended. We booked him in for ten sessions and to our surprise Bert was soon a good swimmer and loved the experience. Amy did a great job with him and his leg soon got stronger. We got our boy back and will continue with the visits.

Ben our 21 month old golden retriever.Suffered massive nerve damaged due to neglect in kennels, then man left him 3 days without seeing a vet!!! he was seen at Liverpool university had mri scans and they found a big blood clot, they operated to remove it but they advised amputation! which I said no I need give bengi more time, and get my head round it, so I thought about hydrotheraphy the neurologist daneil was ok with it. so I did some research and saw an article in Lancashire magazine. there he was steve maney canine health and hydotheraphy. we would like to thank Amy and Steve for their total commitment, care, advice and reassurance. our 12month old puppy Alfie was diagnosed with severe bi-lateral hip dysplasia in Oct 2014. we were devastated as Alfie had become quiet and obviously in pain. his back end was under developed and thin, it was so sad.

Thank You.

Give it a go
Nicky, James, Madi, Baxter & Bruno

Our Labradoodle Seth has hip dysplasia. He is 7 years old. After a 10 week course of hydrotherapy he is now having monthly sessions. He loves swimming and has lost 5kgs in weight; is fitter; jumps in/out of the car; and is much happier. We have followed Steve's canine dietary advice, and are thrilled at the progress Seth has made. He loves attending the centre and enjoys his regular grooming sessions. We can't thank Steve and Poppy enough for helping us to improve upon Seth's quality of life.

My 7 year old beagle, Milo, injured his cruciate ligament earlier on in the year. :-)

On my 'to do list' has been to swim with my dog Puddin, who is an 11 year old Collie cross.

In the short space of time our dog has been seeing Steve, we are very impressed with the way he has improved after his hip displaysia procedure.

I have just completed the 6 week dog grooming course at Canine Health and Hydro. It was the best decision I could have made! Poppy, Steve and Ana are the greatest teachers you could possibly wish for. Their knowledge, encouragement and patience have been endless and I can't thank them enough. We now have a grooming van and feel confident to go forward and make a real success with our grooming business. When the going gets tough or I feel a little wobbly I take a deep a breath and recall similar instances whilst grooming Canine Health and Hydro and how I was guided through it. Thank you again to Poppy, Steve and Ana!

Joanne

Fantastic, very professional, Steve knows his stuff, glad we went, he calms down your dog in such a way, highly recommended.

Joan

Thank You My two dogs look Beautiful after grooming and I was a little concerned about my 10 year old ex breeding bitch but the calm relaxing atmosphere you have created is brilliant

Julie

I would like to thank the groomers here. Marlo nearly 10months (and very boisterous) visited here for a grooming session. The staff are brilliant he was very happy and he looked amazing! Massive thanks to all :)

I have just completed the 5 week dog grooming course at Canine Health and Hydro. After looking at different academys for dog grooming I decided that the above academy offered the best course. So I packed my bags and travelled from Canada to take the 5 week course. I was not wrong in my instinct because the course is brilliant. It is intensive but the instructors, Poppy, Steve and Ana are superb in their teaching skills. The course was not only teaching us how to groom but also the business side of a grooming salon too along with dog handling skills, plus a Pet First Aid course.
Thank you Poppy, Steve and Ana for helping me open a new chapter in my life and for sending me off feeling confident in my new venture.
It really was worth the 3000 mile trip to attend the Grooming Academy. xxxxxx
